Health Benefits Of Water

Health Benefits of Water.

Water is your body’s principal chemical component. Every system in your body depends on water. It is important to drink water because water is the “primary mode of transportation for all nutrients” in the body and is essential for proper circulation (“Ten Reasons to Drink Water”). Water is absolutely essential to the human body’s survival. A person can live for a month without food, but only about a week without water. Water leads to overall greater health by flushing out wastes and bacteria that can cause disease, and also can decrease the risk of certain types of cancers, including colon cancer, bladder cancer, and breast cancer. For those who want to lose weight or wants a healthy body, water is very important in their lives. Water makes up about 60% of your body weight. Water helps to maintain healthy body weight by increasing metabolism and regulating appetite. “It suppresses the appetite naturally and helps the body metabolized stored fat”. (“How 8 Glasses a Day Keeps Fat Away”). Well, one of the liver’s primary functions is to metabolized stored fat into usable energy for the body, but it is impossible without water. For those with constipation water can be helpful. “Water aids in the digestion process and prevents constipation”. (“Ten Reasons to Drink Water”). Finally, when the body gets the water it needs to function optimally, its fluids are perfectly balanced.

How does bottled water effect the environment?

It should come as no surprise that bottled water equals waste, but how much?  Even though there are recycling programs set up across America, only one in every five water bottles is recycled, leaving three billion tons of plastic bottles as waste in landfills (“The Facts About Water”).  That is, if the plastic bottles make it into the trashcan.  Some end up littering roadsides, sewer systems, and water bodies.  Ocean conservationist, Stiv Wilson, estimates there are roughly 315 million pounds of plastic in the ocean (Reilly).  Beyond the obvious waste of the plastic bottles is the often overlooked waste: the waste used in making, processing, and distributing bottled water.  It takes three times as much water to make bottled water compared to what is actually in the bottle (“The Facts About Bottled Water”).  To produce bottled water, it takes enough oil to fuel 1 million cars for an entire year!  That’s roughly 17 million barrels of oil used annually (“The Facts About Bottled Water”).  In 2006, 18 million gallons of water was shipped from Fiji to California creating 2,500 tons of global warming pollutions.  Likewise, on the other side of the US 3,800 tons of global warming pollutants were released transporting water from Western Europe to New York City (“Bottled Water”).

What are the different types of water?

Filtered water has passed through a strainer, called a filter. Some calcium and other solid substances are kept in the filter; there is no filter made that can prevent germs from passing through the filter. Each filted pore is large enough for millions of viruses to go through it. Filtered water isn't all that safe for people drinking it. At the same time filter is becoming a breeding ground for bacteria. Distilled water is water that has first been turned into a steam so that all of its impurities are left behind. Then it's turned back into pure water which is safe to drink from. Tap water is water that has been obtained directly from a faucet or even from tap right in your kitchen and bathroom. This type of  water has not been purified, distilled or treated otherwise. Many people do not like to drink from the faucet because alot of them no do know what's in it, or think it's all that safe.Bottled water is the saftest water it comes from lakes and streams and has been purified and approved by the FDA. Americans should normaly dink around 7 to 8 bottles of water a day. Recently bottled water became a huge marketable asset. It ranges from at least $1 to $3 and is much better than any other kind of water out there .
